    Just picked up this list showing master classes in Montreal on Friday November 11... looks great !

    MASTER CLASSES / WORKSHOPS

    10:30 AM to 11:30 AM
    Paul Brochu
    (Uzeb, Gino Vanelli)
    Montreal?s great all-around drummer gives tips on technique and playing a diverse range of gigs. He?s built a career on it! Paul?s work spans jazz, rock, and funk and he handles each with aplomb. Come and experience his deft touch on drums and cymbals. (in French)

    Noon to 1 PM
    Bruno Roy & Mario Roy
    Rhythm & Passion workshop. These two Quebec musicians have discovered the essence of the drumming experience and are able to explain it in terms of bodily rhythms, percussive rhythms, and the rhythms of nature. A highly recommended workshop presented with exceptional enthusiasm.

    Memo Acevedo
    The acclaimed Latin percussionist/recording artist, now educator at New York University and formerly at Drummers Collective, entitles his presentation:
    Latin Tips for the Non-Latin Drummer: What you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask! Expect a provocative examination of Afro-Cuban, samba, and jazz rhythms delivered by a world expert. (in English)?
    3:00 PM to 4:00 PM
    John Blackwell
    Come and get an inside look at the drummer with legendary artist Prince. John Blackwell is a historian of The Groove and will explain his deep-rooted method of conveying the pulse. He?ll do some playing as well! Learn secrets of grooving and theatrics. (in English)

    4:30 PM to 5:30 PM
    Robby Ameen
    A New York artist whose career has spanned the gamut of Mongo Santamaria to Paul Simon, Robby Ameen is also a noted educator in Latin and has published one of the ?Bibles? of that discipline, Afro-Cuban Rhythms for Bass and Drums. Robby will demonstrate the components of Latin and non-Latin grooves in his inimitable and exciting drumset style. (in English & French)

    6:00 PM to 7 PM
    Dafnis Prieto
    The Cuban-born NYC drummer will explain Afro-Cuban rhythms and in particular the composition approach. Says Dafnis, ?I want to show people how to improvise in a compositional way, picking one idea and then playing it in different ways. With just one idea, you can construct a whole meaningful solo.? Dafnis considers himself as one who transcends Latin and unites the various genres. (in English)

    7:30 PM to 9 PM
    Rick Latham
    He is known as the father of linear grooves, a funky style that involves alternating limbs such that no two come down at the same time. Rick Latham will discuss funk, drumset technique, building grooves with bass players, linear concepts, hand development, shuffles, and hip-hop. A rare chance to meet with the LA master. (in English)

    Rick Latham huh? I'll definitely be showing up there. Anyone here taken lessons with him by any chance?
